Mary Still

Mary Still was sentenced to three years and eight months in
prison for her role in the botched kidnapping of a real-estate agent.
Stearns County District Judge Richard Jessen sentenced Still, 22, on Thursday.
She has been in custody since June 2002 and has about six months left to serve
before she can be considered for early release.
Still pleaded guilty to kidnapping and testified for the prosecution Tuesday at
the trial of her brother-in-law, John Novicky. A jury found Novicky guilty
Wednesday night of attempted criminal sexual conduct, kidnapping, assault and
terroristic threats.
Still admitted that she held the real-estate agent at gunpoint on May 19, 2002,
while Novicky tried to handcuff her. Novicky and Still posed as a married couple
seeking a home appraisal to lure the agent to Novicky's Eden Lake Township home.
Still testified at her plea hearing in January that Novicky planned to use the
agent as a sex slave.
The agent escaped from the house and ran to a neighbor for help. Still and
Novicky fled and got to Kentucky before returning to Minnesota and turning
themselves in.
