An out of control car at a parade in Savannah, Georgia crashed into the
Monmouth County Police Pipes and Drums Corp.
New Jersey reporter Anthony Johnson is in Wall Township where some of the band
members stayed behind.
This is the second time that members of the band have gone down to Savannah to
participate in this rather large event. But band members are now traumatized
after a car slammed into three drummers and nine spectators.
At least 17 members of the band made the trip down south to march in the
second-largest St. Patricks' Day parade in the nation.
The vehicle was carrying a dignitary in the parade, when the driver decided to
swerve around members of the band from Monmouth County. The drummers were hit,
and bodies were sent flying.
One member talked to his buddies down in Savannah, and said they were all in
shock.
Dean Textor, Band Member: "It must have been a nightmare. And the people I spoke
to sounded real shook up."
We understand that the band members have all been released from the hospital,
suffering only minor injuries, though one person may have broken an arm.
The driver of the car is reported to have fled the scene after the accident, but
we have been told that police have now found the driver.
