Suspects sought in abduction, heist

Tribune staff reports
Published June 17, 2004, 10:22 AM CDT

Police today are seeking two men who allegedly abducted a Skokie woman from her home Wednesday night, took her to the North Side currency exchange where she worked and forced her to open the doors so they could rob the business, WGN-Ch. 9 reported.

The incident occurred about 10:30 p.m., when the armed men forced the woman to accompany them to the New Granville Broadway Currency Exchange, at 6165 N. Broadway in the city's Rogers Park neighborhood, WGN reported.

There, the alleged assailants forced the woman to open the exchange's inner doors.

Once inside, the men locked the woman and a co-worker in a bathroom, took cash and got away in a car, WGN reported. Police later recovered the vehicle, but the men were nowhere to be found.

Police said the woman was shaken by the incident, but otherwise unhurt.
