St. Lucy


        St. Lucy, died in 304 was a rich woman of Sicily, she refused marriage and gave her money to the poor. Her rejected suitor denounced her as a Christian and she was judged and condemned to a brothel but was miraculously protected. And the authorities, after failing to burn her at the stake, had her stabbed in the throat with a sword.
