St. Jude (or Judas Thaddaeus), one of the Apostles, after Pentecost
like other Apostles went on missionary work. According to the 6th century
apocryphal texts he preached in Persia with Simon, where they were both
martyred. They were found guilty in overturning statues of idols, and their
throats were cut.
